Although our very own Tom Ward was not a winner...the new Rotary year got off to a great start!

Last Monday, July 12th, marked the first meeting of the Rotary year 2010-2011!  The meeting  was held as a club assembly and updates were provided by Ann Brown and Norman Saute on their exciting trip to Montreal where they attended the Rotary International Convention.  The club also heard from our Literacy Chair, Gerry Mirabile, on the upcoming Dictionary project and some early ideas on other literacy projects for this year.  I took some time to review some of the key initiatives for this year before playing an eight minute video of a speech delivered by RI President Ray Klinginsmith at the Rotary International Assembly in March.

This upcoming week (7/19) we will have representatives from the Animal Shelters in attendance to present them with the proceeds raised from our Pet Walk.  We will also hear a brief update from each town regarding the shelters.

Please forward any ideas you might have for speakers to Jim Stewart, who has kindly agreed (after a rather large bribe) to coordinate the speaker calendar again this year.  Thank you Jim!

Upcoming events:  Franklin Farms Weeding/Cookout (8/02), Rotary at the PawSox (8/16) and the 2nd annual E-waste collection/Shredding Day (9/11).  Please take advantage of the online registration feature available by clicking on the link on the left hand side of this bulletin for each of these upcoming events.

Thank you,

Bob
